Medical Examiner Releases Maquoketa Shooter's Cause Of Death

Officials say the suspect in the officer involved shooting earlier this week died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Earlier this week 30-year-old Aaron Edward Scott of Wyoming, Iowa allegedly shot a Maquoketa police officer during a traffic stop. Scott fled the scene and about 30 minutes later, police found his pickup flipped in a ditch near Lost Nation, Iowa. After an autopsy was performed, the office of the Iowa Medical Examiner says Aaron Scott's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide.
